Training and Education

With the support of our Board of Directors and Senior Management team, we have invested significant resources and efforts to design our corporate compliance and ethics program structure and activities to ensure that we have a Best of Class compliance and ethics program throughout our day-to-day activities. One of the areas of our program that we continually aim to improve and make more effective is our compliance training and education.

Compliance and Ethics Training

All new employees, and all employees on an annual basis, must attend a one-hour orientation on the LHC Group Corporate Compliance and Ethics program. Each employee, including contractors, must receive, acknowledge and attest to the Code of Conduct and Ethics. A monthly audit of signed attestations of the Code submitted by employees is performed to confirm that all employees have read and understand the Code. We require an annual distribution of the Code and employee receipt, review and attestation of the Code. All attestation surveys are tracked and stored in our compliance information system.

Additional specialized training including (1) HIPAA, privacy and security (2) clinical and quality (3) coding, billing and reimbursement and (4) sales and marketing, to name a few, are also an integral part of our comprehensive compliance training and education program. Training and education is delivered through a number of methods including webcasts, online courses and in-person instructor-led sessions. All training is tracked in the Company’s learning management system.

Other Compliance and Ethics Education

We have a full suite of compliance policies and procedures. We perform a routine review and revision of our policies and procedures to ensure that we stay abreast of any new developments and changes happening internally as well as externally. We also perform verification that all employees receive and review updated policies and procedures, specifically those that are directly related to employees’ job function.

Our compliance policies include a Code of Conduct related to Sales, Marketing, Education and Entertainment Activities with Physicians and Other Healthcare Professionals. This Code establishes rules and procedures according to how our employees interact with current and potential referral sources as well as those with the ability to influence or recommend a referral to one of our providers, and ensures that current regulations and laws are followed to the utmost degree.
