Hospice is a form of compassionate and quality care for people facing a life-limiting illness or injury. Hospice affirms life and looks at dying as a normal process. It is based on the belief that each of us has the right to die pain free and with dignity, and that our loved ones will receive the support they need to allow us this right.

of their homes along with:

• Personalized care from specially trained hospice-certified nurses, staff and home health aides to assist with personal hygiene care;
• Palliative care services managed and directed by physician to manage pain and control symptoms;
• Medications, specialized therapies, and all durable medical equipment required for the terminal diagnosis; and
• Psychological, spiritual and grief support services to the patients and families as needed.

Minimizing Pain to Maximize the Quality of Life

It’s not uncommon for hospice patients to experience extreme and continuous discomfort at some point in their care. This can include physical pain, fatigue, depression and shortness of breath. For those patients, we provide specialized palliative care centered on safe, but aggressive, pain management treatments. With direct input from a patient’s physician, our team will develop a plan of care to support a patient’s comfort and well-being while providing their physician with in-depth information into their situation at all times. Our experience shows that this approach can dramatically improve the patient’s comfort and quality of life.

Cost Efficient – Medicare Approved

LHC Group has the operating systems in place that allow us to provide the highest level of care in the most efficient manner possible. This means that patients and their families receive more personalized attention without a higher cost. Additionally, our services are covered by the Medicare Hospice benefit of Medicare Part A, as well as by Medicaid. We are also certified by the Medicare/Medicaid program as a hospice program.
