Personal Emergency Response System
Peace of Mind with the Push of a Button – Philips Lifeline®
Qualified home care patients have access to professional help at home 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with the convenient Philips Lifeline® Medical Alert Service. The one-touch button device, worn as a pendant or wristband, connects our home care patients to a certified Lifeline professional, who can provide immediate assistance for special health needs or emergencies.
Whenever a homebound patient needs help, they simply press the lightweight, waterproof help button on the device. This activates a small in-home unit, called a communicator, that puts the patient in touch with a caring Response Associate who talks to them to find out what kind of assistance they need. The Lifeline Response Associate is able to call one the patient’s friends, neighbors or relatives (responders), who will come to their home to check on them. If they need professional medical help, the Response Associate will call for it immediately. And if the patient presses the button but cannot speak, the Response Associate knows exactly what to do.
Telehealth also includes a Remote Call Answer feature that allows subscribers to answer all incoming calls with their Lifeline button, reducing the potential for falls when rushing to the phone.
With Telehealth, both the patient and their loved ones can rest assured that they are safe, secure and happy at home. The patient’s health and well-being is our only concern. Your team is always there when needed.
What Does It Cost? The Philips Lifeline System is yours for a little more than $1 per day with no installation fee. If you are a home health patient at one of our LHC Group Home Care agencies and qualify for this service, then it is included without additional charge as part of your plan of care.
A deluxe telephone unit with reminders is also offered. It includes:
- Large, high-contrast and illuminated keypad for visually impaired use.
- Voice dialing announces numbers when pressed.
- Three-way volume control handset, speakerphone and ring volume.
- Hearing-aid compatible handset allows patient/user to keep hearing aid in his/her ear and turned on without receiving feedback.
- The ability for users to communicate more with the outside world if they were unable to do so before.
