Saint Mary’s Hospice of Northern Nevada
At Saint Mary’s Hospice of Northern Nevada, we are more than an organization of hospice professionals – we are proud members of communities across northern Nevada. Compassionate, quality service is our mission. And to us, service means getting to know our patients on a personal level.
We know the people we serve, understand their needs, and tailor healthcare to ensure the best journey possible.
We’re passionately committed to making healthcare better every day by leading the industry in clinical excellence and service quality.
We empower our clinicians and staff to embrace the communities they serve, because the best care happens in the context of strong relationships.
Each patient and family we are privileged to serve is unique. Our ongoing mission is to design a specific plan to help you or your loved one live as fully and comfortably as possible in the final stages of life – in the comfort of your own home or place of residence.
Under the direct supervision of your physician, our highly skilled hospice professionals deliver quality, compassionate care. We also include family in the process, offering valuable information, guidance and – most of all – support.
Palliative Care
In collaboration with your provider, our palliative care team works with you and your family to provide the care your need. Dealing with a painful, serious illness is a challenging task. Our clinical experts offer an extra layer of support throughout a patient’s care continuum, increasing comfort, improving quality of life, and reducing avoidable ER visits and hospitalizations.

Hospice is covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance. Hospice is available to individuals with end-stage illness for which there is no cure. But hospice care is not limited to the last few days of a patient’s life. In fact, hospice is designed to provide support throughout the final stages of illness.
WHO PAYS FOR PALLIATIVE CARE?
Medicare Part B will cover 80 percent of the cost of palliative care services for those patients over the age of 65 who meet the program’s eligibility requirements. In some cases, the 20 percent co-pay may be covered by a secondary insurance. We are happy to work with your insurer to see if your plan covers palliative care.
U.S. veterans enrolled in the VHA Medical Benefits Package are eligible for palliative care coverage if they meet the clinical need for the service. Learn more at the United States Department of Veterans Affairs website at va.gov.
Let us be an extension of your care. Our person-centered approach demands working with you to create the best journey possible for our shared patients.
