Forrest City nurse named president of state nurses association

FORREST CITY, Ark. – Brenda May, administrator at Patient’s Choice Hospice in Forrest City, has been named president of the Arkansas Nurses Association. May has served the organization for many years as a board member and as editor of the organization’s official magazine.

The Arkansas Nurses Association is the professional state nurses’ organization and speaks for professional nursing in the state. ARNA fosters high standards of nursing practice, promotes professional development, and advocates for the profession of nursing. ARNA collaborates with other healthcare providers to facilitate access to quality healthcare for the people of Arkansas.

“Brenda has been a valuable member of our organization, in many roles, for several years,” said Veronica Clark, executive administrator for ARNA. “We are confident in her abilities and commitment to the profession, and excited that she will be leading our organization as we move into 2016.”

As a nurse, May has cared for patients in Forrest City for seven years. She has served as administrator at Patient’s Choice Hospice for almost four years.

Hospice professionals provide the emotional, spiritual and medical support needed when patients are facing the final stages of life. Hospice services help patients live comfortably, with dignity, when a cure is no longer possible. Hospice care programs can be provided in any place a patient calls home, including nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

Patient’s Choice Hospice is part of LHC Group, a national provider of post-acute care services with 10,000 employees operating more than 300 locations in 29 states.
