LHC Group announces local physician Dr. Ben Doga’s new role as company’s senior medical advisor

LAFAYETTE, La. (December 5, 2019) – Lafayette-based LHC Group has announced that Dr. Benjamin Doga – previously part-time chief medical officer – has transitioned into a new role as the company’s senior medical advisor.

Dr. Doga is a longtime member of the local and regional medical community and continues to maintain a general and family medicine practice in Lafayette. He joined LHC Group in 2014 and served in a part-time capacity until the company hired a full-time CMO in July.

In this new capacity, Dr. Doga will advise the chairman and CEO, the board of directors, and the board’s quality committee – in conjunction with the full-time CMO, Dr. Tricia Nguyen – on all medical aspects of clinical delivery models and programs.

In addition to these responsibilities, Dr. Doga will also:

  • serve as lead medical director overseeing all local agency medical directors
  • serve as a permanent member of the company’s internal quality committee
  • participate in internal operations meetings, compliance meetings, clinical workgroups, and committees, etc., as requested by the chairman and CEO, chief compliance officer, chief clinical officer, or general counsel
  • advise the board and management team in areas of risk management

“It is impossible to overstate the value and impact of Dr. Doga’s contribution to our company – both as our part-time CMO and in his new role,” said Keith Myers, LHC Group chairman and CEO. “Our company is fortunate to have two certified physicians as part of our leadership team, and I am confident in our ability to confront and overcome whatever challenges lay ahead. We thank Dr. Doga as he continues taking on new challenges in service to our company and our patients.”

Dr. Doga received his bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from Northeast Louisiana University in 1994. He received his medical degree from Louisiana State University Shreveport School of Medicine.

His experience includes serving as the director of in-patient rehab at Southwest Regional Hospital and Lafayette General Medical Center. He also serves as a clinical assistant professor of family and community medicine with Tulane Medical Center, and as medical director for the Community Outreach Center in Lafayette.
