When accompanying her coworker on a hospice consult, Volunteer Coordinator Barbara Elwin noticed that parts of the patient’s home weren’t ideal, and could be dangerous for someone in need of hospice care. The front porch that she walked on was sinking, and about to fall in certain places. Without telling any of her coworkers, Barbara and her husband purchased their own plywood and personally installed new decking to the patient’s porch on their day off. Barbara’s compassion and genuine desire to serve her community is a perfect example of what LHC Group is all about – helping people!
